Fiscal Year 2009-2010 Highlights

  • Facilitated the attraction / expansion of six companies, four of which were within TREO’s targeted industries. TREO's strategy of focusing on targeted industries and quality jobs is resulting in higher wage job gains and new wealth generation.
  • $51.2 million in capital investment is projected to be generated in the region, and 91.8% of the projected capital investment is in the targeted industries.
  • 894 total new jobs supported.
  • Assisted 156 companies considering expansion or relocation within the region.
  • Developed and executed 5 sales missions to aggressively recruit new companies to the region.
  • Developed and launched California job creation program in partnership with the Greater Phoenix Economic Council (later expanded to Yuma and Flagstaff) to recruit California companies to the region, generating 156 leads. Website launched at www.locateinarizona.com.
  • Executed Leadership Exchange trip to Albuquerque September 30 - October 2, 2009. Thirty-five local leaders from public, private and non-profit sectors attended with very positive feedback.
  • Conducted over 151 retention meetings with regional businesses to discuss current and future issues associated with operations, workforce, sales, and local government. These meetings focused on businesses within TREO’s four targeted industries.

Economic Blueprint

  • Launched in 2007, TREO's Economic Blueprint is a strategic plan that defines a performance-based strategy and economic vision to effectively position the Tucson region to capitalize on its best economic development opportunities in the coming decades.
  • TREO involved nearly 6,000 people/organizations in development of the Blueprint, representing the broadest possible range of community interests - public, private, and non-profit.
  • More than 50 organizations endorse the Blueprint mobilization plan.
